History of the Church

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was created to honor 200,000 Russian, Bulgarian to Ukrainian soldiers that passed away during the Russo-Turkish War. However, the name itself came from the name of the Russian Prince, Saint Alexander Nevsky.

Today, people say that this church is one of the biggest Christian churches by volume in the world. Well, this statement is not shocking as the cathedral stands in an area of 3,170 square meters. As for the capacity, it can hold up to 5,000 people inside! So, imagine how big this church is.

Rules and Admissions Fee

The church is open every day from 07:00 in the morning until 06:00 in the evening. Visitors can enter the church for free, however, make sure to pay if you want to take some photos or videos inside. If you want to get a photo permit, then you’ll have to pay £5, as for the video permit it costs £15.
